The way WordPress works is using a theme system. A theme is essentially a folder of files which make up your WordPress website. These files include things such as the header, footer, and sidebar.
WordPress automatically takes all of these files and puts them together to form your blog or website. So it is important to understand on the whole structure works. A theme also uses a standard stylesheet to control the video elements of the blog or website, so it is important to have CSS skills if you really want to get good and designing for WordPress.
If you prefer to build your own theme from scratch, I highly recommend checking out some of the bare bone themes. They give you all of the standard files found within a WordPress theme. You can then build on top of it and customize it to fit your needs.
If you prefer tweaking an existing theme, this is a much easier approach. If you want to control something such as fonts or colors, simply go in to the WordPress theme editor and file the Style. css file. Then you can start making changes as you wish, just make sure to save the changes when you are finished.
If you want to make a change to an actual file of the theme, just use the navigation on the right side of the theme editor to find the file you are looking for. For example , if you want to change something in the footer, just click on the footer. php file and make the changes.
As you can see, it is not that hard to learn how to design for WordPress PSD to wordpress. For the most part, it works like any other website or blog platform. The only difference is that the theme system takes a little getting used to.
